District 157-C Assistant Superintendent elected Vice Chair of IASBO Delegate Advisory Assembly

Assistant Superintendent Curt Saindon to take office on July 1

District 157-C Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations, Curt Saindon, was elected as the Vice Chair of the Illinois Association of School Business Officials (IASBO) Delegate Advisory Assembly. Beginning on July 1, he will serve two years as the Vice Chair, followed by two years as the Chair.

The Delegate Advisory Assembly is the IASBO group that recommends policy initiatives for the Association, advocates for or against proposed legislation, and works to develop legislative proposals and find sponsors in furtherance of education and association goals. It also makes recommendations to the Association’s Board of Directors related to legislative advocacy and policy promotion. Efforts on current policy being considered include the elimination of unfunded mandates, especially those that do not affect student safety and security in the school environment, responsible school funding reform and Vision 20/20, intended to improve and reform public education in several areas.

Over the past 15 years, Mr. Saindon has served on various professional development committees of the IASBO organization. With a personal interest in legislation, he currently serves on the Legal Issues Professional Development Committee and the Public Policy Professional Development Committee. These committees plan and host workshops, seminars and coordinate the presenters. In addition, they provide professional development for business officials and other administrators.

In that regard, the IASBO Delegate Advisory Assembly serves as the legislative advocacy and public policy support mechanism for the association and is committed to working with the Legislators and Executive Officers of the State of Illinois to ensure that Illinois has the best, most efficient and most effective education system in the nation. We are proud of our work in this area and are committed to fighting for ongoing improvements and enhancements to ensure that all children reach their educational potential and learn in a safe, inviting and nurturing environment.”

For 12 years prior to joining Frankfort and working with the Will County Regional IASBO group, Mr. Saindon was involved with the East Central Regional IASBO group and served as its program chair for the last eight years of that time while he was Assistant Superintendent in Kankakee.
