District 157-C Family School Partnership to host "Holidays Around the World"
Free holiday program for157-C families highlights holiday traditions and cultures
The Frankfort School District 157-C Family School Partnership (FSP) will host its fourth annual “Holidays Around the World” event. This program is intended to welcome the winter season, highlight holiday traditions from countries around the world and celebrate our diverse ethnic backgrounds and cultures. The program is FREE to all kindergarten through eighth grade District 157-C families on Thursday, December 10, 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Hickory Creek Middle School, 22150 W. 116th Avenue.
Families will have an opportunity to learn more about traditions around the world through presentations by volunteer families about their own cultural traditions. Parents and students will be hosting and sharing the holiday traditions from their respective countries including France, Pakistan, Austria, Greece, Palestine, China, Mexico, Jordan, Ireland, Philippines, Italy, Taiwan and Poland, just to name a few. These families are, in essence, opening their homes and sharing their cultures and traditions to celebrate together as a community.
In addition, Frankfort’s Lincoln-Way East High School will be represented along with local businesses, Village officials, several company donations and numerous volunteers. There will also be food vendors, live music and decorations from around the globe.

Volunteers are welcome to help with this program. FSP Chairperson Kris McGuire stated, “This event is the best of both worlds, our heritage and our fabulous town of Frankfort. Our goal is to get more countries represented from families, businesses and organizations within our district and to continue to share this event and all of our diverse cultural backgrounds with our community. I hope people will reach out to me and help this annual event grow.
