District 157-C Kindergarten Registration

All children who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2015 are eligible for entry into kindergarten in the fall

Frankfort School District 157-C will conduct kindergarten registration for children who will be entering kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year. All children who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2015 are eligible for entry into kindergarten in the fall.

Registration will be held by appointment only between March 23 and May 15, 2015 at the District 157-C Administrative Office, 10482 West Nebraska in Frankfort. Registration hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All children who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2015 are eligible for entry into kindergarten in the fall. Beginning March 17, parents should call the District Office at 815-469-5922 to make an appointment for registration. When parents come to their appointment, they will need to provide required documentation before kindergarten registration and payment can be completed online.

For registration, a legal birth certificate is required. A legal birth certificate is available from the county clerk in the county where the child was born. In addition, parents must provide three pieces of evidence verifying residency: one primary proof and two secondary proofs of residency. Articles that will be accepted as primary proof of residency include the most recent real estate tax bill, a signed lease, or a closing statement for the purchase of said property. Articles that will be accepted as the secondary proofs of residency may include a driver’s license, a gas, telephone or electric bill, a Public Aid card, a voter registration card or an application for a voter registration card, a home/apartment insurance certificate, a State of Illinois automobile registration or a receipt for a village vehicle sticker. Proofs of residency from an older sibling’s cumulative folder will not be accepted as the state requires current dates.

District 157-C administrators ask parents to please make arrangements to register if they have a child who qualifies for kindergarten. The information gathered from kindergarten registration provides the administration with the data required to plan for the upcoming school year. Registration numbers are used to determine class sizes and the number of required kindergarten sections. Administrators also ask parents to share this registration information with any parents they know who will have kindergarten age children that do not receive the school’s newsletters.

Along with kindergarten registration, other important dates for incoming kindergarten students include “Kindergarten Round Up” on April 2 from 1:00 p.m.to 1:45 p.m. and “Kindergarten Here We Come” on April 23 and April 30 at 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. or 6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Grand Prairie Elementary School, 10480 West Nebraska in Frankfort. These events allow you and your child an opportunity to come into Grand Prairie for possibly the first time and hear from the staff and the teachers. The children will be treated to a story.
