District 157-C Students Sport Their Winning Art Designs
Each school has its own winning design
One student from each District 157-C school won a contest for their artwork design. The contest took place last year where students could submit their artwork by creating a design to represent their school. Numerous entries were submitted and considered, with one winner from each school being chosen. Winners were announced on the first day of school on August 23.
At Chelsea Intermediate School, fifth grade student Alex Lizak won for his design of a series of smiling faces to represent the school. Alex said he likes to draw. Principal Dr. Sharon Paver-Nepote stated, “Alex, you did a great job. We will watch for more of your artwork while you attend our schools and then on through high school.” The Chelsea T-shirt is bright gold with black artwork and lettering.
At Grand Prairie Elementary School, second grade student Ella Cosgrove’s design highlighted reading. Her design of a child’s face peeking over the top of a book won the contest at her school. Ella loves to draw and, even though she is only in second grade, she knows she wants to create art as a career. The Grand Prairie T-shirt is black with white artwork and lettering.

Each of the winning students was congratulated by Superintendent Dr. Maura Zinni, their building principal, teacher and peers. The contest winners received T-shirts displaying their design for themselves and their families. Administrators and teachers greeted the students wearing T-shirts with the winning designs when the children returned to school on the first day of the new school year.
