District 157-C Special Olympics Team wins medals at state

Frankfort School District 157-C is proud to announce that its Special Olympics athletes brought back five medals from the State competition held at Illinois State University. It is District 157-C’s third year of sponsoring a team in the Special Olympics program.  

The students participating at State and the awards they earned include:
Gianni Klauba – Softball Throw – Bronze Medal
Joey Barrett – Standing Long Jump and 200 Meter Run – Gold Medals in both events
William Miller – Standing Long Jump – Gold Medal
Keira Schroeder – 100 Meter Run – Silver Medal


After the Regional competition in May, the District 157-C Board of Education recognized its “Frankfort Cheetahs” team.  The team members included Parker Anderson, Joseph Barrett, Adam Cichon, Windsor Elsden, Jaden Gryga, Ben Kim, Joey Kim, Justin Kim, Gianni Klauba, William Miller, Reilly Murray, Matthew Newton, Alex Nove, Keira Schroeder and Paige VanderWoude.  

The Board also recognized the volunteer coaches who worked with the students to make the program a big success.  They included Patti Bettrucci, Laura Brannigan, Kendra Buividas, Felicia Bysina, Cari Clousing, Christine Freiberg, Lori Irving, Sarah McGrath, Megan Murray, Patty Pizza, Dan Prorok, Josh Purpura, Melinda Rooker, Char Ruhbeck, Curt Saindon, Katie Schroeder, Jake VanderWoulde, Kathleen Spiller, Lori Stanevicius, Trevor Stanevicius and Mary Zoko.
