E-Learning Day Thursday For Summit Hill, School Closed Friday
The Frankfort Library is also closing at noon Thursday, and will remain closed Friday.
FRANKFORT, IL — Summit Hill School District 161 will have an e-learning day on Thursday, and school will be closed on Friday due to the incoming winter storm.
All schools will be closed, before and after-school care is canceled, and activities/athletics are canceled, the District said.
Friday will be considered a snow day for the district.

The Frankfort Public Library will also close early at noon on Thursday. The library will remain closed on Friday, and will reopen on Dec. 27.
Frankfort is under a winter storm warning starting at noon Thursday. 3 to 6 inches of snow is expected for most of the area, and there could be gusts as high as 50 mph. The weather service said a period of heavy snowfall with rates up to 1 inch per hour is likely on Thursday afternoon for some areas.

The weather service said dangerously cold wind chills as low as 30 to 40 below zero are expected Thursday night through Friday night. Those temperatures can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 20 minutes.
