"Fiddler on the Roof" Musical a big success at Hickory Creek

This production marked the 22nd Hickory Creek Middle School Spring Musical

Hickory Creek Middle School’s version of "Fiddler on the Roof" was a great success during four performances in May. The musical was directed by teacher Leslie Walton with Cynthia Corso Heath as the assistant director. This production marked the 22nd Hickory Creek Middle School Spring Musical.

The beloved story takes place in early 1900's Russia, prior to the revolution. It tells the tale of a Jewish peasant dealing with changes in his traditional life as his daughters look to getting married. It also shows the burgeoning anti-Semitism that threatens the lifestyle and traditions of the Jewish population in their little town of Anatevka. The musical has both lighthearted moments and serious ones, while featuring many production numbers to memorable songs such as "Sunrise, Sunset," "To Life," "Matchmaker," and "Tradition."

After three to four months of practice, over 100 students performed in the musical as characters, chorus and stage crew. Numerous volunteers also helped with the production. The lead characters were split into two casts for different performances. Lead characters were played by: Dane Dal Bianco and Jack Delage as Tevye, Catherine Podlesak and Delaney Graef as Golde, Leyla Eames and Evelyn Powers as Tzeitel, Sydney Whitemiller and Madison Rogers as Hodel, Mya Bremmer and Kailey White as Chava, Colin Abbott and Ethan LeBeau as Motel, Peter Bumba and Andrew Draus as Perchik, Sean Dore and Hunter Lehman as Fyedka, David Baer Matt Lombardo and Lazar Wolf, and Ava Stengle and Dorothy Sargent as Yente.
