Fort Frankfort Playground Expected To Finish Renovations Soon
Several components of the project required remanufacturing.
FRANKFORT, IL — Renovations at Fort Frankfort playground have taken longer than expected due to "unacceptable" custom-designed components that needed remanufacturing, according to the Frankfort Park District.
The playground closed in December 2024 for renovations, and was expected to be finished in fall 2025.
"Even the best-laid plans can face challenges," the park district shared in its spring brochure. Several components of the project required remanufacturing.

"Due to the unique, customized design, the process has taken longer than expected," the park district said. The design of the playground includes new structures with elements inspired by Frankfort's historic Grainery and water tower.
Crews continue to work, and the playground should be finished in the winter months. Landscaping is set to follow in the spring.
