Fort Frankfort Playground Officially Opens

"The park has an inclusive design welcoming all abilities to play," the park district shared.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Fort Frankfort playground is officially open after closing in December for renovations.

The renovations were supported by a $1.7 million Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity grant secured by State Sen. Michael Hastings.

"The park has an inclusive design welcoming all abilities to play," the park district shared Tuesday on its Facebook page.

According to the park district, the project experienced delays due to several custom components that had to be remanufactured. A ribbon cutting will be scheduled at a later date.

In additions to the playground improvements, the park now has two new pavilions offering shade and two public EV charging stations, the park district said.
