Frankfort Approves 2040 Comprehensive Plan
The plan sets forth the general goals, objectives, and land use policies for future development in Frankfort.
FRANKFORT, IL — After several months of planning and discussion, the Frankfort village board has approved the 2040 comprehensive plan. The village held several public meetings and events on the plan, which was approved at the Dec. 16 board meeting.
According to board documents, the plan sets forth the general goals, objectives, and land use policies for future development in Frankfort.
The final draft of the plan can be found online and includes the vision the town has for the next 20 years, including green initiatives, community infrastructure, transportation and mobility, land use, commercial corridors and more.

Some goals of the comprehensive plan include:
- Diversity Frankfort's arts, culture and entertainment offerings by expanding programs year-round
- Promote public safety
- Preserve, enhance and grow open spaces and natural areas
- Reduce emissions and air pollution
- Provide high quality water and sewer utility services
- Increase roadway connectivity
- Increase connectivity of the trail network
- Expand and enhance public parks and recreational amenities
- Improve transit connections
- Maintain and enhance downtown Frankfort
