Frankfort Approves Agreement For Body Cameras

The five-year agreement is with Axon Enterprise, Inc.

FRANKFORT, IL — At its Tuesday meeting, the Frankfort Village Board approved a services and purchase agreement with Axon Enterprise, Inc., for the purchase of cameras for the police department.

The agreement is for five years, and includes the purchase of body worn cameras, in-car cameras, interview room cameras and an integrated digital evidence management system, according to Board documents.

The agreement will not exceed a cost of $428,620.80, or $85,724.16 annually.

Trustee Dan Rossi said the video system will "provide full integration, and Axon is considered the industry leader in this field."

Per Illinois law, the Village of Frankfort will be required to implement body-worn cameras no later than Jan. 1, 2025.

It will take 10 to 12 months for the delivery, training and installation of the in-car cameras, Rossi said during the meeting.
