Frankfort Collects Branches After Severe Storms

Crews will then remove branches and trees blocking sidewalks, and will pick up branches placed at the curb last.

FRANKFORT, IL — Several trees and branches were knocked down after severe storms on Monday and thousands remain without power in the area. The public works crew will be out collecting debris that fell during the storm, and will begin with picked up branches and tree limbs in the streets, a release from the village states.

Crews will then remove branches and trees blocking sidewalks, and will pick up branches placed at the curb last. According to the village, only branches one inch in diameter or larger will be picked up, as smaller ones won't go through the equipment properly. Branches over 12 inches in diameter must be cut into 18-inch lengths.

Residents can stack all branches at their curb, with cut ends facing the streets. The village asks that branches not block the sidewalks or streets.
