Frankfort Cop Honored for Life-Saving Actions

Officer Ken Monreal was recognized by Mayor Jim Holland earlier this month.

FRANKFORT, IL — A Frankfort police officer was honored recently for his quick thinking that saved a man’s life last month.

During the Frankfort Village board meeting of December 7, 2015, Mayor Jim Holland presented the “Life Saving Award” to Officer Ken Monreal. Mayor Holland also recognized Sergeant Joel Panattoni for his support of Officer Monreal’s live saving efforts.

On November 29, Officer Monreal was called to a home to assist Frankfort Fire Protection District personnel with an unresponsive male He administered CPR and continued life-saving procedures until paramedics from the Fire District arrived and delivered a shock to the man’s heart with an automated external defibrillator, which produced a weak but steady heartbeat. Sgt. Panattoni also assisted the Fire District personnel during the tense situation and in taking the resident to Silver Cross Hospital where he continues to show improvement.

“On behalf of the Village Board, I commend Officer Monreal and Sgt. Panattoni for their quick action in assisting the Frankfort Fire District personnel in saving our resident’s life,” said Holland.
