Frankfort Enacts Watering Restrictions This Weekend

Village residents will be limited to certain days and hours to water their lawns until further notice.

Friday's early rainstorm wasn't enough apparently. Because of the extreme heat and dry conditions, Frankfort has issued watering restrictions beginning Saturday, according to a village release.

Here's a breakdown of the restrictions:

  • Addresses ending with an odd number can only water between 7-10 a.m. and 7–10 p.m. on odd numbered days.
  • Addresses ending with an even number can only water between 7–10 a.m. and 7–10 p.m. on even numbered days.

This will be in effect until further notice, the release stated.

Frankfort’s daily water demand recently exceeded 7.5 million gallons per day, which is more than a million-gallon-per-day increase from last year’s maximum daily demand, the relase stated. The water restrictions are being enacted to ensure there's enough water for fire protection and other unforeseen events.

For more information on the watering restriction, go to the village’s website or call the village offices at 815-469-2177 during regular business hours.
