Frankfort Extreme Cold: Closures, E-Learning Days
Lincoln-Way and D157-C will both have e-learning days on Friday.
FRANKFORT, IL — With dangerously cold wind chills expected Friday, many schools are moving to e-learning, and libraries and other organizations are closing for the day. In Frankfort, closures include:
- Frankfort District 157-C will be an e-learning day for students. All three buildings will be closed.
- Lincoln-Way D210 will have an e-learning day on Friday. All three high schools will be closed.
Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero are expected for the Chicago area on Friday, according to the National Weather Service. An extreme cold warning has been issued from 3 a.m. to noon on Friday for the area.
The cold will begin Thursday night, when temperatures could get as low as -14, and wind chills could be as low as 40 below zero. The cold continues into Friday morning, and by Friday afternoon, wind chills could still be as low as 25 below zero, according to the weather service.
