Frankfort Files Objection To Proposed Trucking Terminal
The property is in unincorporated Will County, on La Grange Road just south of Stuenkel Road.
FRANKFORT, IL — At Tuesday's meeting, the Frankfort Village Board approved the filing of a written objection to a proposed trucking terminal in unincorporated Will County.
The property is located on the east side of La Grange Road, just south of Stuenkel Road.
The property owner has filed a zoning application with the Will County Land Use Department for a zoning map amendment, to change the property from A-1 agricultural district to I-1 limited industrial district; and a special use permit to allow for a trucking terminal.

The owner is proposing a 20-space truck/trailer gravel parking lot on the 10.10-acre property, according to board documents.
According to plan commission minutes, a fence would be installed on the site, and at most, 20 trucks would be entering or leaving the site every day.

The Plan Commission determined that an industrial zoning would be inconsistent with the Village's comprehensive plan, which identifies the property for agricultural use, board documents state.
The Board unanimously agreed to file the objection.
Village Administrator Rob Piscia told Patch that the Will County Board will review the matter, and it will require a super majority vote to pass the zoning change.
The Will County Board next meets on Thursday, but the matter is not listed on their agenda; so it may be discussed at later meetings.
