Frankfort Lions Club Doubles Scholarship Amount for LWE Seniors
Deadline for four $1,000 scholarships from the Frankfort Lions Club looms for Lincoln-Way East students.

FRANKFORT, IL - Four students at Lincoln-Way East High School will receive $1,000 scholarships from the Frankfort Lions Club this year.
The club decided to double the amount they usually offer to the scholarship winners in 2017 to celebrate their centennial anniversary, according to a news release. Scholarship dollars may be used toward college tuition, books or room and board.
“Supporting youth in our community and showcasing education as a value is a priority for the Frankfort Lions Club,” said Sue Wolf, president of the club. “By awarding community service scholarships, we also honor students who serve their community and make it a better place to live and grow.”

Doubling the amount in one year "showcases the Lions commitment to students and their families who spend so much time and energy providing community service to those in need throughout Frankfort and Frankfort Square," according to Jan Schmitz, co-chair of the Lions' scholarship committee.
The deadline for students to apply for the scholarships is Friday, March 17. They are available to pick up at the Lincoln-Way East High School counseling department.
