Frankfort Local Election 2023: Races To Know

The consolidated election, which will be held April 4, will include local races for village trustee, park district boards and school boards.

FRANKFORT, IL — The consolidated election is just over two months away, and there's a lot to know about what races Frankfort voters will see on their ballots.

The consolidated election, which will be held April 4, will include local races for village trustee, park district boards, school boards and library boards.

Write-in candidates have until Feb. 2 to file their intent with the county clerk.

Here's a look at what Frankfort voters will see on their ballots (be sure to check your district boundaries for schools, libraries, etc.):

For those who live in the Village of Frankfort, the Village Trustee race has five candidates running for three open positions on the board. The candidates are:

  • Jessica Petrow
  • Adam Borrelli
  • Maura Rigoni
  • Marc Dabaco
  • Hillary Kurzawa

Petrow and Borrelli are both current board members.


The Frankfort Park District has an uncontested race, with two candidates vying for two open positions on the board. The candidates are:

  • Thomas Barz
  • Elmer Gentry

Barz and Gentry are both current board members.


The Frankfort Public Library race also looks to be uncontested, as there are two candidates running for two open positions on the board.

  • Katherine Foulk Veach
  • Jan Look

Look currently serves as president of the library board.


At the grade school level, residents in Frankfort may live within in Frankfort District 157-C boundaries or Summit Hill District 161 boundaries.

For D157-C, there are nine candidates running for four open positions:

  • Jennifer Hindel
  • Nicole Queen
  • Edith Lutz
  • Larry Kociolek
  • Brian Skibinski
  • Jeffrey Tarala
  • Michael Casey
  • Francesco D'Avola
  • Peter Guse

Lutz currently services as president of the board, Skibinski serves as secretary, and Kociolek also serves as a current board member.

At Summit Hill, there are four candidates vying for three open positions on the board.

  • Joy Murphy
  • Matthew Carey
  • John Winter
  • Ronnie Petrey

At the high school level, it is a crowded race for Lincoln-Way District 210. There are four open positions and 10 candidates:

  • Catherine Johnson
  • Gena Sambo
  • Caitlin Olejnik
  • Nathan Sandoval
  • Dana Bergthold
  • Mark Bamman
  • David Collins
  • Katarzyna Topor
  • Tessa Quinlan
  • Richard LaCien Jr.

LaCien is the only candidate currently on the board.


For the Frankfort Fire Protection District board of trustees, there are three candidates vying for two open positions on the board. There is also an uncontested race for an unexpired 2-year term on the board; the only candidate is Mike Minogue.

The three candidates for the 6-year term are:

  • Donna Vegter
  • Justin Lohrens
  • George Faris

Vegter, Minogue and Lohrens are all current board members.
