Frankfort Man Charged After Heroin Falls Out of Sock in Jail: COPS

Police told man to turn his sock inside out at Oak Lawn lock up when a bag of suspected heroin fell out, police said.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A Frankfort man was arrested after four bags of suspected heroin fell out of his sock while at the Oak Lawn police station, reports said.

Abdelkarim Karan, 24, was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was taken into custody in Mokena for possession of a syringe and being held on a $25,000 arrest warrant for a DUI charge in Oak Lawn.

Oak Lawn detectives drove to Mokena to pick Karen up on Jan. 30. While in the Oak Lawn lock-up, Karan was asked to remove his shoes and turn his socks inside out. Police said a small bag containing suspected heroin fell out of his left sock on to the floor.

Police found three more bags of what is believed to be heroin in his sock. Karan allegedly told the cops that he had bought the suspected heroin a few days before for personal use.

Karan appeared in Bridgeview for a bond hearing where bail was set at $100,000. His next court appearance is Feb. 23.
