FRANKFORT, IL — A 25-year-old Frankfort man was killed in a shooting in Monee Tuesday, the Will County Coroner's Office said. Christopher Mitchell was pronounced dead at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 25700 block of South Sunrise Drive in Monee. The coroner's office said Mitchell was the victim of a shooting.

Police said they discovered two gunshot victims sitting in a car. Mitchell, the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 23-year-old woman was taken to the University of Chicago with serious injuries. The incident was not the first drive-by shooting on Sunrise Drive. In September 2018, Monee police said "a certain house was targeted" on the street in a shooting they did not believe to be random.
"This is alarming and we are doing everything possible to resolve the incident," police said at the time.
