Frankfort Man's Sunset Photo Wins Forest Preserve Contest
Michael Fagan's watercolor-like take of the sunset at a wooded area in Channahon won the July part of the Forest Preserve's photo contest.

FRANKFORT, IL -- A Frankfort man's spectacular sunset photo earned him a first place finish in the July portion of the Forest Preserve District of Will County's "Preserve the Moment" photo contest. Michael Fagan won the contest with a photo that was taken at the McKinley Woods in Channahon. It mimics a watercolor painting with numerous clouds reflecting in the water.
"I really like the view of the end of the DuPage River as it meets with the Des Plaines," Fagan said in a news release from the Forest Preserve District. "I have a couple daytime shots of the site and thought it would be a nice sunset shot. My interest in a sunset photo is always enhanced with the reflection possible in the water. The water level was very high and moving fast that night after some heavy rains. Bottom line, the clouds cooperated."
Fagan will be will be one of the contest's eight monthly winners that will compete for the top prize of the year. The monthly contest continues through the end of the year.
