Frankfort Park District Board Commissioners Sworn In, Take Seats
Both commissioners were incumbents, and re-elected in the April 4 consolidated election.

FRANKFORT, IL — At the Frankfort Park District Board of Commissioners meeting on May 9, two commissioners, Tom Barz and Elmer Gentry, took their oaths of office and were sworn in for four-year terms.
Barz was first elected to the board in 1999, and has served for 24 years on the Board, according to the news release from the park district. Barz has worked with past Directors and Commissioners to align the Frankfort Park District to provide quality recreational services and facilities, all while watching the community grow from 3,000 residents to the 20,000+ residents it serves today, according to a release.
Gentry was elected to his second term, after he was elected in 2021 to a two-year term. Gentry was also elected at the meeting to serve as the Secretary of the Board, according to the release.

Other board positions include Mike McCarey as President of the Board, Barz as vice president, Mark Ponton as treasurer, and Thomas Ruvoli as an at-large member.
At the May 9 meeting, Barz, the outgoing Board President, thanked the Board for the opportunity to serve as the Board President and stated he was proud of the accomplishments that he has been
part of and looks forward in working with the current Board.

The Frankfort Park District Board of Commissioners meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at the Founders Center, 140 Oak Street.
