Frankfort Park District: Playground Replacement Projects – Update July 14

The rain events in late June have put the contractor for the Brookmeadow and Sandalwood playground projects behind. As you may notice, a majority of the playground equipment at Brookmeadow Park has been installed. This week during the installation, it was discovered that a large piece doesn’t meet our expectations. The piece is being reshipped from the contractor and it is going to delay the installation. Once we receive the equipment, an updated timeline can be provided. The crews will be finishing up what they can of the install at Brookmeadow the week of July 19, but the final installation can’t be completed until the swing bays arrive. The equipment was inspected upon delivery, but the defect was not found until installation.

As the install crews finish, they will be moving to Sandalwood Park. All the equipment and accessories are in possession of the contractor and the park district. It is estimated the curbing and equipment installation will begin on July 21. The estimate for the installation for the Sandalwood Park is four weeks from the start of when they get moving. The Park District is disappointed with the timeline of the projects as it was anticipated that the contractor would work the sites in tandem to complete them at the same time. This did not happened and the Park District is working with the contractor to get the projects moving.
