Frankfort Plans Earth Day Clean-Up
Residents, groups or organizations can volunteer to help with clean-up from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on April 22.
FRANKFORT, IL — Celebrate Earth Day in Frankfort with a clean-up of the village on April 22.
Residents, groups or organizations can volunteer to help with clean-up from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Gloves, garbage bags and a free T-shirt will be provided to all volunteers, according to the Village website.
Supplies can be picked up from the Village Hall, 432 W. Nebraska Street, from 8 to 9 a.m. before the event.

After clean-up, volunteers can also enjoy free pizza and cookies at 11:30 a.m. at the public works facility, 524 Center Road.
The Village has chosen several locations throughout town that require clean-up. You can sign up for locations by contacting Sue Lynchey at 815-469-2177.

Clean-up locations include: Old Plank Road Trail from Elsner Road east to Oak Street; Old Plank Road Trail from Elsner west to 108th Avenue; Old Plank Road Trail from White Street to Pfeiffer Road; Elsner to Nebraska Street; Laraway Road between Center Road and 80th Avenue; 116th Avenue from the railroad tracks to Laraway; around the pond near The Creamery; Route 30 from Locust Street to Wolf Road; Route 45 to Scheer Road; Route 45 from Laraway to Old Frankfort Way; Sauk Trail form Center to Harlem Avenue; Harlem from Route 30 to Laraway; 80th Avenue along Laraway; Pfeiffer from Route 30 to Laraway; St. Francis Road from Route 45 to 88th Avenue; Breidert Green; Lakeview Estates Park area; Butternut Park area; and HOA entrances.
Volunteers also have the chance to win gift cards by keeping an eye out for large and unusual items to clean up. A gift card will be issued for largest item collect, strangest item collected and dirtiest volunteer, according to the Village website. The volunteer with the most trash bags will also win a $100 gift card.
