Frankfort Police Warn of Copper Thefts in Area
Residents are asked to keep an eye out for suspicious activity around construction sites.

Frankfort police are warning residents to be on the lookout after several copper thefts from new construction sites.
Police have made several arrests in connection with the thefts. Those who live in a subdivision or pass through a subdivision or new construction area are encouraged to be vigilant of any suspicious people or vehicles.
Here are some particularly suspicious circumstances police would like residents to report, whether at a new construction site or in your own neighborhood:

• A vehicle you do not recognize in your neighborhood or at a construction site you are familiar with.
• People on a construction site at odd hours; past five p.m. and before seven a.m.
• Flashlights inside a new construction home after dark.
• Workers that appear to be removing materials/appliances as opposed to bringing them in to a home.
• Suspicious behavior, such as someone asking odd questions or requesting money for gas but no car in the area
• Solicitors that are not registered with the village, or asking question that are not pertinent
• Subjects asking questions about lot lines, or utilities (these people should have proper identification and uniforms)
“Remember, the police would rather be called to investigate a tip that turns out to nothing,” police said in a release. “Your tip may actually save us time by catching an offender in the act rather than having to identify and locate them at a later time. Always know, you are never ‘bothering‘ us when you call and we are available at all times of the day and night. We rely on our partnership with the community to help make Frankfort a safer place.”
