FREE Ice Cream Social
Frankfort Area Historical Society's Annual Event is Sunday, August 18
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! The Frankfort Preservation Foundation and Frankfort Area Historical Society will be hosting its Annual Ice Cream Social on Sunday, August 18, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at the Founders Center, 140 Oak Street in downtown historic Frankfort. “This event began in 2005,” explained Harry D'Ecole, President of the Frankfort Area Historical Society. “It is an annual tradition that celebrates a community spirit that is alive and well in Frankfort. The event is free. It is our way to thank the residents of Frankfort for their conJnued support of both the FoundaJon and the Historical Society.”
The free admission includes a free ice cream sundae. Ice cream “scoopers” at the event include members of both Frankfort’s Police and Fire Departments. It’s not just about the ice cream though. There will be plenty of games for the kids and live music will be provided by the Frankfort Brass Band. One of the highlights of the event is the Pielympics – a pie eating contest that is set up with three age divisions. Participants can compete in the “Under 10 Years Old” division, “11 to 15 Years Old” division or “16 +” division. Banana cream pies are provided by Enrico’s Italian Dining. Whoever finishes first, as determined by the judges, is declared the winner. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in each division.
