German American Heritage Center of Frankfort Wins the People's Choice Award at Annual Trunk-or-Treat
GAHC wins first place for decorated trunk at annual event

The German American Heritage Center of Frankfort won the People’s Choice Award for the best decorated trunk at Frankfort’s annual Trunk-or-Treat event. The event, which included the EF Bucko children’s costume parade and a safe trick-or-treating time overseen and sponsored by the Frankfort Police Department, took place on Saturday, October 25 at Breidert Green in historic downtown Frankfort.
This was the first time that the German American Heritage Center participated in the event. Their winning trunk was decorated as the gingerbread house from The Brother’s Grimm fairy tale Hansel & Gretel. Members of the Center rounded out the decorated trunk dressed in traditional German trachten and handed out mini packets of gummy bears to the children who participated.
Pictured are John Stern and his daughter, Katy Stern, members of the GAHC who worked on the design and creation of the decorated trunk along with Christine Walthier, treasurer of the GAHC.
