Graffiti Found in Downtown Frankfort
Frankfort police are increasing patrols in Prairie Park after graffiti was found in several locations on Saturday.

FRANKFORT, IL - Graffiti was found in several locations in downtown Frankfort over the weekend, causing the village and the Frankfort Police Department to implement measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
"While this appears to be an isolated incident, the village of Frankfort and the Frankfort Police Department take this matter very seriously," according to a news release sent by the village on Tuesday.
The graffiti was found in Prairie Park, just east of White and Elwood streets in downtown Frankfort, on Saturday. It was present on the park's fishing dock, surrounding signage and walking trail, according to the release.

Additional graffiti was found in the Bowens Crossing subdivision near West Arrowhead Circle. It was all promptly removed.
Since the incident, Frankfort police have increased foot patrols in the area and have urged the village to look into additional security measures such as increased lighting and adding security cameras in Prairie Park.

“The Frankfort Police Department is making every effort to investigate the incident and take a proactive approach to insure the safety of our residents and reduce this type of activity," Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland said. "We continue to encourage our residents to advise our police officers of any suspicious activity in their neighborhood."
