Help the Lincolnway Special Rec Association Send Its Basketball Teams to State

Can you help them reach their goal?

Update, Feb. 28

The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association wants to send four of its five basketball teams to the 2015 Special Olympics Illinois State tourney—but they need your help.

The group has started an online fundraiser to gather the funds needed for staffing, transportation, and hotel accommodations for the tournament, set for March 13–15 in Bloomington. The association charges its athletes less than the actual cost to attend and with fundraising, the group said the amount charged to athletes can be reduced.

With Patch readers’ help, the group quickly surpassed its $1,000 goal. They’ve since raised the bar to $5,000.

“It is the goal of LWSRA to raise enough money by fundraising to someday make the games free for our athletes to attend, but we need your help!”
