Hickory Creek Middle School to participate in the ILMEA Junior Festival Choir, Orchestra, and Band

Festival culminates in public concert at Lincoln-Way Central High School Field House at 3:00 p.m. on November 5.

On Saturday, November 5th, 2016, the Illinois Music Educators Association Elementary (ILMEA) and Junior High Division will hold its annual District I Music Festival at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, IL. The festival will involve over 500 students selected from more than 60 schools throughout the southwestern metropolitan Chicago area.

The Hickory Creek Middle School Band, under the direction of Doug Adams, Shannon Shanahan, and Ben Clark, had a record number of students placed in the Festival Band this year. They include Alexandra Anderson (Bassoon), Grant Bruninga (Trumpet), Joe Freeston (Clarinet), Charlie Machamer (Trumpet), Selden Nevinger (Clarinet), Alex Sidler (Euphonium), Chris Speakman (Tuba), Jessica Stoiber (Alto Saxophone), Rebekah Stryjewski (Trumpet). Students Grant Bruninga and Jessica Stoiber will also be participating in the ILMEA Jazz Festival the following weekend.

The Festival Band, Orchestra and Chorus will present a public Festival Finale Concert to be held at 3:00 p.m. in the Lincoln-Way Central High School Field House. Admission for the concert is $5.00. Children under 6 will be admitted free of charge. Appearing in concert will be the 150 member festival band, the 100 piece festival orchestra, and the festival chorus numbering over 150 voices.
