Four students earn "Outstanding" awards at Regionals and will compete at State

The Hickory Creek Middle School Science Club held its Science Fair as an optional program for the students this year. The teacher sponsors are Dan Finan and Cheryl Wojnarowski.

Following the school Science Fair, four students participated in the Illinois Regional 9 competition on March 14th at Metea Valley High School in Aurora. They are all seventh graders and include Brandon Hudson, Matthew Halliman and Trenton Lyke with their project entitled “Creating a safer Pesticide” and Kira Martin with her project entitled “Comparing Sorbents to Clean Up an Oil Spill.”

Both projects earned an “Outstanding” award and these students will be competing at the state competition on May 2nd at Southern Illinois University. Congratulations to these Hickory Creek students for their outstanding work.
