Students collect 500 pounds of candy for donation

Hickory Creek Middle School again participated in Operation Gratitude’s candy drive this year. The students collected 500 pounds of candy. Teacher sponsor is Michelle Sommer. Working with the Ashland Dental Center, the candy will be combined with other donations and sent to the Operation Gratitude program.
Operation Gratitude annually sends 200,000+ care packages filled with food, entertainment, hygiene, and handmade items, plus personal letters of appreciation to veterans, first responders, new recruits, wounded heroes, their caregivers, and to individually named U.S. service members deployed overseas and their families waiting at home. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than 1,800,000 care packages. Information about the program can be found at http://www.operationgratitude.....
