Hickory Creek Middle School Track and Field Sectionals

The Hickory Creek Middle School Track and Field team competed at the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Sectionals on May 13 in Kankakee. The Tigers showed up ready to go and walked away with countless individual and team awards. Congratulations to the 7^th grade girls team and 8^th grade boys team for taking home championships. The 8^th grade girls and 7^th grade boys teams both took home 2^nd place overall out of 14 teams.

Many of the athletes won their individual and relay events to qualify and most met the qualifying standards set by the IESA. Chloe Geijer set a 7^th grade school record in discus with a 96’3” throw to win. The 7^th grade girls 4x100 consisting of Mariam Azeez, Chloe Geijer, Jena Kuli, and Maggie Haverstock set the school record with a 51.60 Mariam Azeez also broke a record by jumping 17’1.5”

The Hickory Creek coaches are Dan Finan, Mitch Stein, Katie Ellinghaus, Cari Mills and Bridgett Flynn. Coach Mitch Stein stated, “The coaches are so proud of all of the accomplishments this team has had this season. We wish them luck in the State competition on Friday and Saturday!”
