Hickory Creek Middle School Track and Field Sectionals
7th and 8th grade girls' teams, and the 8th grade boys' team, became the Sectional Champions!

The Hickory Creek Middle School Track and Field team had a record-breaking two days at Sectionals May 12 and 13 at Sandburg High School, and then finishing up at Joliet Memorial Stadium on May 14. After competing against 15 other teams the 7th and 8th grade girls’ teams, along with the 8th grade boys’ team, all became the Sectional Champions. The 7th grade boys took Third Place overall. Many of these athletes won their individual events or relays, and most met the qualifying mark set by the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) to earn a chance to compete at the State tournament.
Many of the athletes broke long-standing school records at Hickory Creek Middle School. They include:
· Chloe Geijer - 8th grade girls record of 114’4” in discus.

· Katie Stewart - 7th grade girls record of 111’4” in discus
· Danielle Stewart- 8th grade school record in the shot put with a 32’11” throw.

· Mariam Azeez – 8th grade girls record of 12.51 in the 100m dash.
· The 8th grade girls 4x100 team consisting of Mariam Azeez, Chloe Geijer, Jenna Kuli and Maggie Haverstock set a school record with a 51.27.
· The 8th grade girls 4x400 team with Laurelei Thormeyer, Sophia Barnard, Jena Kuli, and Maggie Haverstock, set a school record with a 4:16 run.
· Jack Tremblay – 8th grade boys hurdles with a time of 14.23
