Hickory Creek Softball Heads To State Final Tournament

Hickory Creek defeated Homewood's Hart 4-1 on Saturday to take the sectional championship crown.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Hickory Creek girls softball team will play in the first round of the IESA Class 3A state tournament on Friday.

Hickory Creek defeated Homewood's Hart 4-1 on Saturday to take the sectional championship crown, according to IESA. Hickory Creek's record is now 21-2-0.

Now, the team will face Charleston (17-1-0) at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the state tournament in Normal. The winner of that match-up will face the winner of Lemont's Old Quarry and Chatham Glenwood on Saturday in the semifinals.

The state championship game will then be played on Saturday afternoon.

The team consists of Bella Cortes, Julia Donnellan, Katie Harper, Sarah Hellrung, Emersyn Hughes, Reagan Johnson, Jillian Kwiecinski, Emilia Maciel, Haley Muehlnickel, Lauren Muehlnickel, Olivia Spacucello, Maddy Sweet and Juliette Vock.

The team is managed by Kate Bohms and coached by Erin Nemeth and Mitch Stein.
