Hickory Creek Students Selected For Honor Bands, Orchestra

Students from Hickory Creek Middle School auditioned virtually to participate in the District 1 ILMEA honor bands and orchestra.

FRANKFORT, IL — Several Hickory Creek Middle School students have been selected to participate in the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) honor bands and orchestra, the district said in a release. Under the direction of band instructors Shannon Shanahan and Doug Adams, students from Hickory Creek Middle School auditioned virtually to participate in the District 1 ILMEA honor bands and orchestra.

The following students will represent Hickory Creek at their respective virtual Master Class Festival on Nov. 14: Zach Ankarlo, Emily Clark, Jackson Cummings, David Hampton, Eliana Herbst, Matt Jansen, Yui Nagashima, Aidan Reid, Mary Rincker, Olivia Sexton (Junior Band), Aidan Reid (Junior Jazz Band I), Madeline Bond, Ellie Freeland, Noelani Hill, Alex Langlois, Connor Schultz, and Reese Valek (Junior Orchestra).

In a typical season, the selected musicians would gather to take part in the District Festivals with student musicians from around Illinois. According to the district, ILMEA has instead created a high-quality virtual musical experience for those selected into the ensembles. Students will take place in half-day digital master class events via Zoom after a motivational keynote address.
