Hickory Creek Track and Field Team State Track results
8th Grade Girls team came home as overall State Champions for the second straight season!
The Hickory Creek Middle School Track and Field Team had another record-breaking weekend at the State Tournament in East Peoria, Illinois on May 18th and 19th. This followed a very successful season, including Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) Sectional titles in three out of the four team awards.
The 37 total athletes showed off their skills earning 16 individual medals including six 1st Place finishers and one runner-up. Along with individual awards, the 8th Grade Girls team came home as overall State Champions for the second straight season. They scored a total of 61 points at the meet while second place had 28 points. This was the second team title for Hickory Creek.
The last three years have proven to have been a historic run for the track program. Two years ago the team earned two second place team awards, last year the seventh grade girls were State Champions and then again this year as 8th graders. Coaches Bridgett Flynn, Katie Krenner, Peggy Luther, Mitch Stein and Matt Young are very proud of the whole track team that participated this season.
