Lane Reductions and Shoulder Closures at U.S. 30 over I-57

Work begins Monday.

Work on the U.S. 30 bridge over Interstate 57 in Matteson will resume Monday, weather permitting, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

To complete the work, the following traffic patterns will be affected:

  • Permanent shoulder closures along northbound and southbound I-57 at U.S. 30.
  • Traffic will be reduced from two lanes to one lane along the westbound direction on U.S. 30 with a width restriction of 13 feet.
  • Traffic will be reduced from three lanes to one lane along the eastbound direction of U.S. 30 with a width restriction of 9 feet.

The anticipated completion of the project is May 2015.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.

Work on Stuenkel Interchange Resumes

Work for the new interchange on I-57 at Stuenkel Road near the Village of University Park will resume on Monday, March 23, as well. In order to complete the work, shoulders along both northbound and southbound I-57 will be closed between Monee-Manhattan Road and Steger Road.
