Lincoln-Way East Cheerleading State Champs Honored By Village

The team is also the first Lincoln-Way varsity cheer team to win conference, sectionals and state.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Lincoln-Way East Cheerleading team was honored by the village of Frankfort at the March 4 village board meeting. The varsity cheer team won the state championship on Feb. 2 in Bloomington.

"You really did great, and you represented our community extremely well," Mayor Jim Holland said before reading a proclamation honoring the squad.

According to the proclamation, this is the fourth time in the past six seasons that the program has captured the state title. At the state competition, the team received a score of 91.56 and bested all the other schools in the large team division, the proclamation stated.
