Lincoln-Way East Cheerleading Team Heads To State Finals
Lincoln-Way East placed second at sectional competition, earning a berth to the state finals.

FRANKFORT, IL — Lincoln-Way East High School's cheerleading team will compete at the IHSA cheerleading state finals this weekend in Bloomington.
The team earned a berth to the state finals after a second-place finish in the large division at the Bradley-Bourbonnais High School sectional, according to the IHSA website. The top five teams in each division advanced to the state finals.
Lincoln-Way East has been the state champions in the large division six times in recent years, in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

The team had a score of 97.33 at the sectional, falling just short of reigning state champions Lockport Township High School, which had a score of 97.37, according to IHSA.
Lincoln-Way Central (score of 96.83), Andrew (score of 90.33) and Downers Grove North High School (score of 88.23) rounded out the top five teams in the large division at sectionals.

The IHSA state final competition will be held Feb. 3-4 at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.
