Lincoln-Way East Orchesis Plans Performances

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 and Saturday, Jan. 25 in the Lincoln Way East Fine Arts Center.

FRANKFORT, IL — The Lincoln Way East Orchesis dance club will perform "Orchesis: Number 1 Hits" Jan. 24-25. This year’s dance performance is a compilation of different styles of choreography designed as a tribute to movie songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s and today, the district said.

The dancers will perform all styles of dance from hip hop to ballet. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24 and Saturday, Jan. 25 in the Lincoln Way East Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

"We have a very talented group of girls this year. Their dedication and hard work has produced a very entertaining show," said Orchesis director Julie Widinski.

The goal of Orchesis is to educate and strengthen the appreciation of dance as an art form. All the dances are choreographed by high school students and allows them an opportunity to participate in leadership roles, the district said.
