Lincoln-Way East Softball Finishes 2nd In State

The Griffins came within a run of a state championship in 2017.

EAST PEORIA, IL - The Lincoln-Way East High School softball team advanced to the IHSA Class 4A championship game over the weekend and finished its 2017 campaign as the state runner-up.

The Griffins beat Marist High School in the semifinal before falling to Oak Park-River Forest High School, 1-0, in the championship.

“The coaching staff couldn’t be prouder of the girls and what they accomplished,” said Head Coach Elizabeth Pawlicki. “Throughout the post season, we played excellent defense; offensively, our bats were sound. The girls became a family and bonded and because of that we were able to accomplish so much. This team will forever hold a special place in my heart; the memories we made will stay with us forever.”
