Lincoln-Way East Student Awarded College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship

FRANKFORT, IL — A student from Frankfort was among over 2,500 winners of a College-Sponsored National Merit Scholarship, which was announced Wednesday by the corporation.
Felix Sacks, a student at Lincoln-Way East High School, was awarded the National Merit University of Minnesota scholarship. Felix has a probable career field of chemistry.
Officials from each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among National Merit Scholarship program finalists, according to a news release. The awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.

Another group of scholars will be announced in July.
By the end of this year's competition, about 6,700 students will have earned scholarships worth about $24 million, according to National Merit.
