Lincoln-Way East Wins State Cheerleading Championship
Lincoln-Way East cheerleaders brought home a state championship over the weekend.

BLOOMINGTON, IL - The Lincoln-Way East High School cheerleading team won the IHSA Cheer state championship over the weekend after a two-day competition at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.
The Griffins won the "Large Team" division on Saturday with a score of 94.46. They edged out state runner-up Joliet (West), which compiled a 92.71 tally.
Sandburg (90.71), Providence Catholic (90.13) and Naperville-Nequa Valley (89.33) rounded out the top five.

In the "Medium Team" division, Lemont won its fifth state championship in the last nine years.
The championship-winning Griffins team was honored late Saturday night with a ceremony at the school upon their return home from Bloomington.
