Lincoln-Way Hockey Club Partners with LWE Senior for Christmas Toy Fun

In a heartwarming initiative aimed at spreading holiday cheer, the Lincoln-Way Hockey Club has once again teamed up with LWE Senior Emily Vodges for a Christmas Toy Fundraiser benefitting The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. This marks the second consecutive year of this collaboration, which aims to bring solace to pediatric cancer patients during the holiday season.

The fundraiser will be celebrated through a series of exciting hockey games this Saturday at the Homewood-Flossmoor Ice Arena, located at 777 Kedzie Avenue. The action kicks off at 2:45 PM with the JV2 team going head-to-head against Highland Park, followed by JV3 taking on the Plainfield Predators at 4:20 PM. The JV1 squad will then face the DuPage Stars at 6 PM, and the evening will culminate with the Varsity game against the DuPage Stars at 7:50 PM.

Spectators attending the games are encouraged to participate in the spirit of giving by bringing a new, unwrapped toy for donation. Bins will be available at the arena to collect these toys, ensuring that children fighting cancer receive a special gift this holiday season.

The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation is dedicated to providing comfort and joy to pediatric cancer patients. According to the foundation, the goal is to have a Treasure Chest stocked with toys or gift cards in every pediatric oncology facility nationwide. This initiative allows young patients to choose a reward as recognition for their bravery in enduring painful medical procedures. With thousands of children and teens impacted each month, the foundation plays a crucial role in brightening the days of those battling cancer.

The Lincoln-Way District Hockey Club (LWDHC) aims to provide students within Lincoln-Way High School District 210 the opportunity to engage in competitive ice hockey while maintaining the values of good sportsmanship and academic achievement.
