Lincoln-Way Hockey Teams Strive For Championships

The Lincoln-Way hockey teams have a big week ahead of them as they hit the ice in search of league and state championships.

#4 Lincoln-Way JV2 v. #2 BGHW Stampede

#4 JV2 advances to the semifinals of the North Central Hockey League after going 2-1-1 in the playoff pool play. They tied #8 LZMW Yeti, defeated #5 Libertyville and #9 Lake Forest and lost to #1 Loyola in route to the semifinals. They will face off against the #2 BGHW Stampede Thursday night at 8:30pm at West Meadows Ice Arena located in Rolling Meadows, IL. The winner of this game will take on the winner of Loyola / Fox Valley in the Championship game Sunday afternoon at West Meadows

#8 Lincoln-Way Varsity vs. #9 Naperville

The Varsity team, ranked #8, will face off against #9 Naperville in the first game of the night on Saturday at HF Ice Arena. Despite a slow start to the season due to injuries, Lincoln-Way has regained momentum, winning 7 of their last 8 regular season Illinois West games. They currently hold a 26-18-0 record and finished the regular season in 6th place.

Naperville, comprising students from Naperville Central and Naperville North, enters the game with a 20-13-0 record and an 8th place regular season finish. The winner of this matchup will advance to the quarterfinals to face the winner of #1 BGHW vs. #17 Oswego.

#2 Lincoln-Way JV1 vs. #15 D155 Predators

In the nightcap, the #2 ranked Lincoln-Way JV1 team will take on the #15 D155 Predators at 7:50pm. The D155 Predators, made up of students from Cary Grove, Crystal Lake Central, Prairie Ridge, and Crystal Lake South High Schools, advanced to the Sweet 16 by defeating Naperville 3-2 in the opening round. The D155 Predators hold a 14-19-2 record in the Illinois North Central Silver Division.

Lincoln-Way finished the regular season with an impressive 28-11-0 record, including a 22-2-0 record and first place regular season finish in Illinois West league play, earning them a first-round bye. The team has outscored their opponents 178-51 throughout the season.

The winner of this game will move on to the quarterfinals to face the winner of #7 Maine vs. #10 D211 Chiefs.
