Local hair salons support the Crisis Center for South Suburbia

Continuing education for their stylists was just one aspect of a recent event sponsored by Jeffrey LaMorte Salon & Day Spa of Frankfort, Orland Park and Lemont, Charles Morris Salon of New Lenox, and Salon Evangelos of Orland Park. Another significant part of the event was that it also supported the Crisis Center for South Suburbia.

The event took place on Sunday, May 17, at the Tinley Park Convention Center, when the Wella Corporation showcased its 2015 Spring Trends to stylists from the three salons. The owners of the salons, Jeff LaMorte, Chuck Morris and Vance Theodore, wanted the occasion to not only be an educational event for its staff, but also to provide useful donations to the Crisis Center.

The salons collected $2,500 of unopened makeup as well as numerous new and gently-used professional haircare tools and other beauty products from their staffs. These were donated to the Crisis Center during the event. In addition, the staff at each of the three salons provided makeovers for workers from the Center.

The Crisis Center for South Suburbia (CCSS) is located in Tinley Park, Illinois. It is a not-for-profit community organization that provides emergency shelter and other essential services for individuals and families victimized by domestic violence. The crisis center also has a 24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline, 708-429-SAFE (7233.)

Salon owner Jeff LaMorte stated, “We were proud to combine our educational event with donations to support this local Crisis Center that provides an important safe haven for those in need.”
