LWE Sports Teams Donate to Frankfort Food Pantry

Griffin baseball and softball teams combined to donate 777 food items this month.

FRANKFORT, IL - Baseball and softball players at Lincoln-Way East High School this month donated hundreds of items to help "stock the shelves" at the Frankfort Food Pantry.

The athletes managed to collect 777 items in the first week of April alone in what has become an annual friendly rivalry to see which Griffin sports team can donate the most. This year, the donations were made in memory of Linda Ernat, the mother of a former softball player and Frankfort Food Pantry volunteer who died suddenly recently.

“We started this event as a tribute to a former softball athlete’s mom who passed away suddenly,” LWE Softball Coach Elizabeth Pawlicki said.
