Man Charged With Murder After Matteson Amazon Facility Shooting: Police

The shooting happened late Sunday at the Matteson Amazon facility on Vollmer Road. A 26-year-old Glenwood man was killed.

MATTESON, IL — A Gary, Indiana, man has been charged with murder after he fatally shot a contract employee at an Amazon facility in Matteson, Matteson Police said Thursday.

The shooting happened at 10:54 p.m. June 28 at the Amazon facility at 7001 Vollmer Road. Police said officers arrived within three minutes of the shooting and found an employee with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso near the building's front entrance.

The employee, who was identified as Dylan Perkins, 26, of Glenwood, died at the hospital from his injuries.

Police said officers spoke to witnesses and reviewed surveillance footage showing the events leading up to the shooting. Officials said the investigation showed that the victim and the suspect, who was a food delivery driver, had an argument that turned into a physical altercation in the facility's parking lot.

The suspect shot the victim several times, police said.

No name was given for the 33-year-old man who was arrested, but police said he has been charged with murder. He was taken into custody on Wednesday at the Matteson Police Department.

He was taken to court and will appear for a detention hearing on Thursday.
