Mayoral candidate Todd Morgan reaffirms his independence by rejecting any political endorsements

Mayoral candidate Todd Morgan continues with his campaign pledge to remain independent and focus on the issues rather than building political allies. He stated, “As a former trustee I was always elected as an independent candidate. This has served me well to this day and I am very proud of that fact. As an independent candidate I was not beholden to any other elected official or ideology and I was able to represent the community unbiased.”

In addition, Morgan points out that without remaining independent he believes he would only be hypocritical since many of his campaign pledges to benefit Frankfort citizens like term limits, reinstituting the tax rebate program, and an anti-nepotism ordinance are all issues that are not shared by several of the current board members. Therefore, seeking their endorsement would only be a political "gimmick." He continued, “I want the citizens of Frankfort to vote for me based upon my experience, what I accomplished as a trustee and on my platform committing to what I plan to bring to Frankfort. This includes safer neighborhoods, lower taxes, better parks, more trails and additional activities for families. Unfortunately for the citizens, officials seeking office who claim to be independent but turn around and build a coalition without objectively considering each candidate truly based on their platform only reinforces the ‘keep your buddies in’ mentality of politics.”

Morgan believes he can work with anyone but understands that many candidates running for office think is much easier to win if everyone endorses one another or gets support from candidates that have tens of thousands of dollars in campaign funds behind them. He continued, “I am okay with that because my campaign might be a little bit like ‘David and Goliath’ going up against thousands of dollars in campaign money, entrenched interests and old school politics but I will let my accomplishments as a former trustee and my dedication to this community speak for itself.”
